YouTube's Significant Drop In Google News Visibility
YouTube does not appear as frequently in Google News as it used to. Will Flannigan, the Wall Street Journal's SEO Editor, shared a chart from The Trisolute News Dashboard demonstrating YouTube's reduction in visibility in Google News. This means that YouTube videos and results are not showing up in the Google News portal as often as they did. It went from 9.7% to 1.5% in terms of how often YouTube shows in Google News. The drop in visibility seemed to have started the week of December 10, 2023.

In this research, SGE appeared for 86.8% of the terms. Overall, SGE displayed roughly ten links per answer, but only about four of them were unique. The AI-generated answers in Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE) do not match any links from the top 10 Google organic search results 93.8% of the time Because searchers will be able to access the answer immediately in Google's AI-generated answer, Google SGE is projected to drastically diminish organic traffic to websites for numerous keywords. The one ray of hope? Websites that do not rank in the top ten of Google's organic search results may be eligible to show as links within SGE.
