Google Search Confirms Deindexing Vast Amounts Of URLs In February 2024

Google's Gary Illyes has acknowledged that a "vast amount of URLs" were "suddenly" deindexed from the Google Search index in February of this year. He stated that because of this, Google's "perception of the site has changed."

Remember that Gary is not claiming that you would receive "crawled but not indexed" problems from Google because your website is deemed to be of low quality; rather, it is most likely a result of a technical problem. However, if you noticed a surge in these "crawled but not indexed" notifications in February in Search Console, it may have been caused by problems with the quality of your website.
