Google has recently made significant updates to its documentation, including changes to the rel=canonical guidelines, an announcement regarding updates to its misrepresentation policy, and revisions to its image removal documentation. These updates aim to provide clearer guidelines and improve user experience across Google's platforms.

Google Updates Rel=Canonical Documentation

The rel=canonical documentation was updated to reflect better how Google uses them

To clarify how it manages the extraction of rel canonical annotations, Google updated its guidance on rel canonical. The explanation aims to make it apparent how Google processes rel=canonical annotations, not to suggest that Google's handling of them has changed.

Google announces Misrepresentation policy update

Failure to comply with the updated policy could result in the suspension of your Google Ads account.

The section of Google Ads' misrepresentation policy on unethical business practices is being updated.

From March, this section will include:

“Enticing users to part with money or information by impersonating or falsely implying affiliation with or endorsement by a public figure, brand, or organization.”
