Huge Decline In Links Reported In Google Search Console Links Report

Earlier this week, we discussed some decreases in the amount of links reported in the Google Search Console links report. Well, it got a lot worse this morning, and everyone is noticing massive drops in the link report. 40% of the URLs reported are from only a few days ago. There are now 177,000 links instead of 287,000.

Google explains how it is improving its AI Overviews

Google said only one in every 7 million unique queries resulted in a Google policy violation. Google's new head of Search, Liz Reid, replied to the negative headlines around its recently launched AI Overviews in a new blog post. Google described how AI Overviews function, where the strange AI Overviews came from, and what changes Google has done and will continue to make to its AI Overviews.

However, Google stated that searchers "have higher satisfaction with their search results, and they're asking longer, more complex questions that they know Google can now help with," implying that AI Overviews are here to stay.

Google Discover Feed Not Loading For Some Searchers

Over the last few days, some Google users have complained that the Google Discover news feed is not loading. It appears that many of these individuals are using Pixel devices, but I'm not sure if this is limited to Pixel users.

The Google homepage would simply show a loading circle animation without actually loading anything. Google confirmed the issue and said a remedy would be available this morning.
