Although a large number of these individuals appear to be using Pixel smartphones, I'm not sure if this is affecting Pixel users exclusively. Nothing would load on the Google home page; it would only display a loading circle animation. Google acknowledged the problem and said a remedy would be available this morning.

However, according to Danny Sullivan, Google's Search Liaison, the Google Search team is striving to change that so the website that was cited in the inquiry appears higher in the search results.
