Google Analytics 4 rolls out a default Google Ads report, enhancing integration between the two platforms for advertisers seeking comprehensive insights. In parallel, WalkerOS emerges as a viable alternative to gtag.js, offering robust data collection capabilities. Additionally, Google confirms the absence of the filetype search operator, prompting adjustments in search strategies for users accustomed to its functionality.

Google Analytics 4 launches default Google Ads report

The new report, which was available in Universal Analytics, is now located within the performance reporting section of your GA4 account. A default Google Ads report was added to Google Analytics 4 and may currently be seen in the performance reporting part of your account.

You must connect your GA4 profile to your Google Ads account to view this report. Data availability within GA4 is made easier by the addition of this Google Ads report, which was previously available in GA4's predecessor, Universal Analytics. It facilitates the process of identifying areas for development and what is functioning properly, which helps you optimise your campaign more successfully.

WalkerOS: A data collection alternative to gtag.js

Google’s popular gtag.js library makes collecting data for Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads straightforward.

It does, however, also bind you to the Google ecosystem. When you track data, you give up flexibility and control. Now introduce walkerOS. ElbWalker's latest open-source tracking library seeks to restore your control over customisation. It allows you to send data to destinations other than Google. Additionally, it promises improved performance thanks to a lean codebase.

Google Confirms That Filetype Search Operator’s Missing

Google's SearchLiaison confirmed on Twitter that the filetype search operator is missing. Google’s filetype search operator went missing early Wednesday morning. Other search operators continue to function. SearchLiaison responds that it must be a bug. The filetype: search operator is a way to search for results that are constrained to specific kinds of files like text, pdf, .doc files and many other kinds of files.“Two Google (search) options have been switched off: searching by filetype and seeing the cache. The former will be missed especially, and searching e.g. (policy) documents will become much harder because of it.”
